K2 Pure Solutions and KA Steel Chemicals Inc, of Lemont Illinois announce that they will build a sodium hypochlorite plant in the greater Chicago area, to manufacture the purest quality bleach and other related products using only inert salt, water and electricity as the ingredients. Upon completion, the plant will have the potential to eliminate the transport and storage of over 1,000 rail cars of chlorine in its trading region. The plant opening in 2008 will lead a nation-wide program for the transition to inherently safer technologies in the production of sodium hypochlorite. K2 Pure Solutions and KA Steel Chemicals have an exclusive partnership to market and distribute the products produced in the Chicago plant. KA Steel is the market leading producer and distributor of bulk bleach and caustic soda in the mid-west.
